Cheers & Jeers

Cheers to Gotham
for going totally batty. From Oswald (Robin Lord Taylor) turning his step-sibs into main courses to Nygma (Cory Michael Smith, above) unleashing his inner Riddler to Hugo Strange (BD Wong) and his grisly Arkham experiments, this year’s rise of the villains has lifted the comic book series to insanely fun new heights.

Jeers to Michael Strahan
for his morning-show fumble. Announcing his departure from Live! without telling cohost Kelly Ripa ahead of time was an offensive blind-side. Let’s hope he proves to be a better team player when he assumes his full-time position at Good Morning America in September.

Jeers to Sleepy Hollow
for sending Abbie to the big sleep. A midseason fake-out left fans thinking Nicole Beharie’s FBI agent had died, but then Hollow went and really killed her off in the season finale. Come on, guys, Ichabod without his “leftenant” is like Bones without her Booth. Or Castle without his Beckett…oh, wait.

Cheers to Better Call Saul
for getting even better. The Breaking Bad prequel’s Season 2 finale served up Emmy-worthy work by Bob Odenkirk and Michael McKean as the shady McGill boys, plus some tasty teases about what lies ahead — including the possible arrival of a certain Bad man. Someone call us when Season 3 gets here!
