Jamesburg teen fatally injured while riding motorcycle

 

MONROE – A teenager riding a motorcycle was fatally injured after colliding with a motor vehicle on May 4.

Around 2:30 p.m., Michael P. Parker Jr., 19, of Jamesburg, was driving a 2005 Honda CBR south on Half Acre Drive, approaching the intersection with David Brainerd Drive, according to information provided by the Monroe Police Department.

At the same time, a 2010 Lexus ES3 being driven by Judith B. Schaffer was reportedly making a left turn from the northbound lane of Half Acre Road onto David Brainerd Drive, police said.

The motorcycle and the Lexus collided in the southbound lane of Half Acre Road.

Parker was ejected from the motorcycle, suffering a severe head injury and other internal injuries, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Schaffer, 82, of Monroe, sustained minor injuries to her leg and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, according to police. Her passenger, Phoebe W. Kobler, 90, of Monroe, was not injured.

The crash is being investigated by Sgt. Sergeis Jangols and Ofc. Daniel Mosakowski of the Monroe Township Traffic Safety Division. Any witnesses should call 732-521-0222, ext. 126.
