Police apprehend man wanted for domestic violence incident

SOUTH RIVER – Police have located a man who was wanted for aggravated assault and eluding stemming from a domestic violence incident.

Mahmoud M. Ahmed, also known as Moreece “EMW” Gravano, 26, of Edison, was taken into custody in Edison by the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Squad with the assistance of the South River Police Department Detective Bureau, the Edison Police Department and the South Plainfield Police Department around 1:22 p.m. on May 3, according to information released by the South River Police Department.

He was transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $55,000 bail on charges of aggravated assault and eluding stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident in South River on April 27, according to police.

In addition to the South River charges, multiple warrants existed for Ahmed from other jurisdictions, police said.
