Free aphasia group coming to Monroe

A free aphasia communication group, sponsored Adler Aphasia Center, will begin June 15 at Monroe Village, One David Brainerd Drive, Monroe.

Aphasia is a language disorder caused by stroke or other brain injury. It affects spoken language, reading and writing but does not affect one’s intellect.

The group, which is designed to provide an opportunity for individuals who have been diagnosed with aphasia to socialize with others who share similar experiences, also will provide tips on communicating more effectively and time to practice communication skills in a natural environment.

Sessions will be facilitated by a licensed speech language pathologist 10 a.m.-noon on the first and third Wednesdays of every month. An individual may join the group at any time; however, advance registration is required.

For more information or to register, call Wendy Greenspan at 973-530-3981 or email wgreenspan@adleraphasiacenter.org.
