Red Bank reader is a world beater

RED BANK – Red Bank Middle School student Karina Linares Huerta was recognized by the borough council for beating out more than a million students around the globe in an online reading program.

Karina, a seventh grader at the middle school, is a participant in the Achieve3000 online reading program. On Feb. 11, Karina read and completed activities for 35 articles in one day to become the program’s worldwide daily top scorer, ahead of 1.7 million students across the globe who also participated in the program.

At its May 11 meeting, the borough council reward Karina with a resolution in her honor presented to her by Councilwoman Kathleen Horgan.
