Two sport utility vehicles — a 2015 Mercedes-Benz GL450 and a 2015 Dodge Durango, valued at a combined $110,000 — were stolen from the driveway of their owner’s home on Elm Lane sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. May 17, according to the Princeton Police Department.
It is believed that both sport utility vehicles were left unlocked and with the key fobs inside the vehicles, police said.
The incident is similar to other car thefts that have occurred across New Jersey and in Pennsylvania, police said. The thieves appear to target high-end vehicles and attempt to steal them during the early morning hours.
The thieves look for vehicles that have been left unlocked and with the key fob in them, police said. The majority of the stolen vehicles are push-button-start vehicles.
The incident has been turned over to the Detective Bureau for further investigation.
