Games That You Can’t Miss

The month of June has arrived and so have championship matchups in various scholastic sports.

With just a few weeks remaining in the spring season, here are locations that we recommend that you visit over the coming days.

 

It’s championship Friday, June 3, for baseball and softball teams. NJSIAA state sectional championships will on the line in a number of locations throughout the state.

In the state softball tournament, the North Jersey, Section II, Group III final is in Middletown where coach Tom Erbig’s Middletown South Eagles take aim at another sectional championship. The third-seeded Eagles are playing the No. 4 seed, South Plainfield.

South Plainfield stunned top-seeded Middletown North, 4-2, in the semifinals.

In Central Jersey. Group IV ,No. 4-seeded East Brunswick is home to No. 7 Hightstown.

Seedings held up in Central Jersey, Group I where No. 2 New Egypt travels to No. 1 Riverside.

 

For the Non-Public schools, June 3 is their sectional semifinal day. Red Bank Catholic, the fifth seed, is home to No. 9 Donovan Catholic, a 1-0 upset winner over the top seed, St. John Vianney, in Non-Public, South A. The other semi has No. 3 Bishop Ahr visiting No. 2 Notre Dame in Lawrenceville.

In Non-Public, South B, second seeded Mater Dei welcomes No. 6 Benedictine Academy.

 

On the baseball fields, Ocean Township, the No. 4 seed, is home to No. 6 Nottingham for the Central Jersey, Group III championship.

South Brunswick, the No. 12 seed, goes to Flemington and will seek to upset  the No. 2 seed, Hunterdon Central, in the Central Jersey, Group IV title game. Among the upset victims that have fallen in the state tournament to South Brunswick are fourth-seeded Montgomery and No. 5 Freehold Borough.

Top-seeded South River takes on No. 2 Keyport in Central Jersey, Group I.

 

Like softball, the Non-Public baseball semifinals are June 3.

The No. 1 seed, Red Bank Catholic, plays No. 4 Camden Catholic in Non-Public, South A.

Now head over to the track where athletes will take their final runs, jumps and throws towards the NJSIAA Meet of Champions at the Group state championships on June 3-4.

Groups I and IV and Non-Public A are competing at Egg Harbor Township High School while Groups II and III and Non-Public B travel to Northern Burlington Township High School in Columbus.

The Meet of Champions is June 8 at Central Regional High School in Bayville.

The Shore Conference Baseball Tournament final is June 5 at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, home of the Lakewood BlueClaws. The finalists are Christian Brothers Academy and Middletown South.

For tennis buffs, there’s only one place to be, Mercer County Park in West Windsor. It is the site to the NJSIAA team and individual championships.

The team Tournament of Champions concludes on June 2 with the championship match.

The state singles and doubles tournament gets underway on June 4.

The Greater Middlesex Conference first singles champion, Joshua Marchalik of East Brunswick, is the tournament’s No. 1 seed in singles.

The NJSIAA Central Jersey boys’ volleyball final will be a replay of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament championship when rivals, top-seeded East Brunswick an No. 2 St. Joseph’s of Metuchen, meet to settle the sectional state title  in East Brunswick.
