‘Our Natural World’ exhibit focuses on landscapes

Beacon Fine Arts Gallery is hosting the exhibit, “Our Natural World,” featuring the paintings of Sharon Hathaway, Robert Pillsbury and Lisa Hannick, at 61 Monmouth St., Red Bank.

Receptions with all three artists will take place from 7-9:30 p.m. June 17 and 5-9 p.m. June 18 and feature wine and hors d’oeuvres.

Hathaway is passionate about the American landscape. She gathers subject matter for her detailed paintings on walks along the Jersey Shore, the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and Tennessee and quiet lake shores and open fields of the Midwest.

“My goal in painting landscapes is to invite the viewer into the painting. I want to give you a break from your busy life allowing you to enjoy the simple beauty around us,” she said in a press release.

Pillsbury was born in Derry, New Hampshire, where he embraced the surrounding landscape at a very young age. His career has spanned 35 years and involved performance art, video, painting, printmaking, art instruction and a continued implementation of a large and varied body of work. His artistic passion is drawing, and his award-winning work has been included in numerous exhibitions.

Hannick captures the simplicity of objects and casual gestures and communicates them in a colorful, highly visual method. Her work has an old master’s quality and uses chiaroscuro lighting, which is highly influenced by the Dutch traditionalists. Her still life images and landscapes reflect a sense of order and balance.
