NORTH BRUNSWICK – More than 70 students worked at individual makerspace stations at North Brunswick Township High School during a Mini-Maker event.
Anyone who wanted to make something in a do-it-yourself facet was able to do so during the pilot event that was funded by the school’s Parent Student Teacher Organization on May 26.
Projects included vision boards, artwork, t-shirt and textile design, musical instruments, architecture, engineering projects, gliders and balloon jet racing.
The Maker Movement / STEAM Movement (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) is becoming important in education across the country, according to Valerie Grollman of the school’s Art Department.
“It has the potential to change the entire educational landscape for the 21st century,” she said, “[and] now it’s landed in North Brunswick.”
