JACKSON – Police are looking for a man who came face to face with members of a family whose home he had allegedly burglarized.
Jackson Police Capt. Steven Laskiewicz said detectives are searching for a stocky Hispanic male in his late teens to early 20’s who is believed to be responsible for the burglary of a West Pleasant Grove Road home on June 1.
Laskiewicz said that at about 7:30 p.m., a resident returned home and observed lights on and heard noises coming from the basement. Moments later, other residents arrived at the house.
He said the residents checked the basement and found a door unlocked and a rear floodlight on. The residents checked the rest of the home and determined that personal items were missing from several rooms.
No intruders were found in the home. The residents checked their property and came in contact with the alleged burglar in a wooded area of the property, the captain said. He said a brief verbal exchange between the individual and the resident took place before the unidentified man fled the scene.
Officers arrived at 7:41 p.m. Police said a search resulted in some of the missing items being found near where the man was seen standing on the property.
Jackson police officers and the Plumsted Township Police Department K-9 unit searched the area, but the suspect was not located.
The man was additionally described as wearing a blue shirt with a collar and camouflage cargo pants. He was described as having hair that was short on the sides and longer on top. He had no facial hair.
