Sayreville man charged with murdering his father

SAYREVILLE — A 20-year-old Sayreville man has been charged with the murder of his father.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Sayreville Police Department Chief John Zebrowski announced on June 13 that Vishal Shah was arrested and charged with fatally shooting his father.

Shah was charged on June 12 with murder in the death of his father, Pradipkum Shah, 53, who was shot in his home on June 10 and later pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on June 11 at 6:25 a.m.

In addition to murder, Shah was charged with hindering his apprehension by hiding the gun that was used in the shooting and charged with unlawful possession of the weapon. The gun has since been recovered.

The defendant is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in lieu of $1 million bail.

He was charged during an investigation by Detective Amy Noble of the Sayreville Police Department and Detective David Abromaitis of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

It is alleged that the defendant shot his father once in their home on Lakeview Drive in the Parlin section of Sayreville on June 10 at 9:43 a.m. and then hid the weapon, a .25-caliber handgun.
