Eight Marlboro homes hit in recent burglaries

MARLBORO – Police are working to solve a series of burglaries that occurred in Marlboro between Feb. 1 and June 17.

Marlboro Police Capt. Fred Reck said eight residential burglaries, seven vehicle burglaries, two commercial burglaries and two additional burglary attempts occurred during that time.

Jewelry and money were taken from a home on Briarcliff Drive on Feb. 6. Jewelry was removed from a residence on Alberta Drive on March 3.

A burglary was reported on March 7 on Westbrook Drive, however, it is unknown if anything was removed from the residence. Jewelry and money was taken from a residence on Pecan Valley Drive on May 17.

Jewelry was stolen from a home on Knightsbridge Lane in the Chelsea Square development on May 23. Police said Brian Williamsky 24, of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, was arrested on May 31 in connection with the burglary.

A burglary was reported on June 4 on Roosevelt Avenue. It is unknown if anything was removed from the residence. Jewelry and a watch were taken from a home on North Main Street (Route 79) on June 10. A burglary was reported on June 15 at the Marlboro Motor Lodge, Route 9 south. Nothing has been reported as stolen.

A radio was stolen from a vehicle that was parked on Beacon Hill Road on Feb. 23. Electronics were stolen from a vehicle that was parked on Whipple Way on March 14. Electronics and tools were taken from a vehicle that was parked on Lucas Boulevard on April 1.

Tools were stolen from a vehicle that was parked at Beacon Hill Plaza, Route 34, on April 26. A woman’s purse was taken from a vehicle that was parked at Big Brook Park, Route 520, on May 12. A wallet was stolen from a vehicle that was parked at Exclusive Plaza, Route 9, on May 29.

Police said Shana Hilsman, 29, of Old Bridge, was arrested on May 5 in connection with the theft of items from a vehicle in Marlboro on April 21. Police said the case was being handled by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police said a burglary took place on April 9 at 12:41 a.m. at Salon Blush, South Main Street (Route 79). Police responded to an alarm and determined that a  brick had been thrown through a rear glass door. Police said the cash register was removed from the business. There was no estimate of how much money may have been in the cash register.

A second commercial burglary took place at Select Basement Waterproofing, Route 79, on June 15. Police said multiple items were removed from the property.

Marlboro police officers responded to Kohl’s, Route 9, on March 13. Police said the department store’s security officers had detained Tamara Stadnyk, 67, of Morganville, Raisa Kavunenko, 78, of Morganville, and Anna Saukina, 53, of Manalapan, for attempting to shoplift $1,857 worth of merchandise. Marlboro police charged each individual with shoplifting and conspiracy.

Charles Metzler, 26, of Manalapan, was arrested on May 19 and charged with receiving stolen property in connection with a theft on Sami Court that day. Police said Metzler had an outstanding warrant from Manalapan, but had no information about the warrant.

Police said Fredrick Cooper, 29, of Westfield, was charged in connection with the theft of $800 worth of tires from his place of employment, Tires to Go, Tennent Road, on May 28.
