HILLSBOROUGH: Special ed services director is hired 

Suzan Radwan

Suzan Radwan was hired Monday night as district director of special services, effective July 1, for the Hillsborough school system.
She replaces Kathryn Warlick, who had previously resigned.
Ms. Radwan worked as the director of special services for Hoboken Public Schools since 2014. While in Hoboken, Radwan oversaw all facets of the district’s department, including increasing inclusive education, supervising child study teams, and ensuring compliance with special education administrative codes and statutes.
Ms. Radwan began her public school career in 2004 as a school psychologist with Newark Public Schools, where she worked with preschool through high school aged students. In 2010, she became supervisor of the district’s Office of Special Education. In 2013, Ms. Radwan was named Newark Public Schools’ executive director of operations for the Office of Special Education.
Ms. Radwan is currently working to complete her Doctor of Education degree in educational leadership at Rowan University.
Ms. Radwan’s annual salary will be $144,000.
In other personnel actions:
– Barbara Golden’s appointment as acting principal at Triangle Elementary School from May 31 through June 30 was ratified Monday night by the Board of Education.
She substitutes for Lisa Heisel, who took a sick leave of absence and is expected back in July.
Ms. Golden, who is also the wife of Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker, is paid $504.01 per day.
– Former high school boys’ basketball coach Ian Progin is returning to be the head girls’ basketball coach, replacing Barrie Foley, who had resigned. He’ll be paid at least $8,464, pending settlement of union contract negotiations.
– The board accepted the retirement of high school English teacher Lori Herring, who worked in the district since September 2000.
— The resignation of Gary Biggs, head coach ice hockey at the high school, was accepted. He was coach from October 2012.
– Cody Lefevre, assistant high school boys’ lacrosse coach, resigned effective June 30. He was employed in the job since November 2015.
– Janice Wickman, head bookkeeper in the business office, resigned effective June 17 after working in the district since July 2010.
