RED BANK — Culture Club, one of the biggest pop bands of the ’80s, will perform at 8 p.m. Sept. 6 at Count Basie Theatre, 99 Monmouth St. Tickets are now available.

Although the band drew influence from the New Romantic movement, Culture Club was also inspired by the music and fashion of Northern Soul, which helped to create a broader appeal. The band had seven top 10 hits in the U.K. and nine in the U.S.

The band’s breakthrough hit was “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?” Culture Club was the first band since The Beatles to achieve three top 10 hits from a debut album on the Billboard chart.

“Time (Clock of the Heart)” has been included on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s list of 500 songs that shaped rock ‘n’ roll.

Tickets range from $69-$149. A VIP Experience package is also available for $350 and includes a pre-show meet-and-greet with the band and a commemorative merchandise item and tour laminate. Customers must purchase a show ticket separate from the VIP package. For tickets or more information, visit www.countbasietheatre.org.
