Police charge suspects involved in robbery with stun gun

EAST BRUNSWICK – Two suspects were charged with robbery almost two months after the incident allegedly occurred.

On April 16, a female victim was loading groceries into her car at Walmart when she was allegedly robbed of $80 in cash by a female suspect armed with a dark colored stun gun that resembled a flashlight, according to a statement prepared by the East Brunswick Police Department.

Through Detective Crispin Farrace’s investigation it was determined that two suspects were involved and were operating a late 1990s Audi.

On April 27, a South River patrol unit stopped a black Audi for a motor vehicle violation and a subsequent search of the car reportedly revealed a dark green flashlight stun gun with “Police” etched into the side, according to officials. The two suspects were identified as Naomi Gerenza, 50, and Thomas Nizolek, 30, both of East Brunswick.

Based on the South River Police Department’s arrest and further information developed by Detective John Breen, criminal complaints were signed against Gerenza and Nizolek. The two were charged May 26 at their residence in the township.

Gerenza and Nicolek were both charged with robbery and conspiracy. Bail was set at $150,000 for Gerenza and $100,000 for Nicolek. Both were transported to the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick in lieu of bail.
