School earns six Basie nominations, three awards for ‘Amadeus’

LITTLE SILVER — Red Bank Regional High School (RBR) took home three Basie Awards this year with Patrick Monaghan once again winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama for “Amadeus.” He won the same honor last year for his leading role in “Much Ado About Nothing.”

Reuben Jackson also won two awards: The first for Outstanding Direction in a Drama and the second for Outstanding Production in a Drama, both for “Amadeus.” Jackson’s twin awards come in his debut year at RBR as its drama teacher and production director.

Other nominations included: Mary Kokie McNaugher, nominated for Outstanding Costume Design in a Drama for “Amadeus,” and Matt Suzska and Francis Hankins, nominated for Outstanding Lighting Design in a Drama, also for “Amadeus.”

Sophomore Luke Pearlberg earned a nomination for Lead Actor in a Musical for “Fiddler on the Roof.” He was asked to reprise his role as Tevye as part of the festivities for the 11th annual Basie Awards. He was joined in the performance by his stage wife, Golde, portrayed by Victoria Aumack.

The Basie Awards took place May 18 at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank.
