National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund reacts Orlando terror attack

WASHINGTON – The monstrous terrorist attack in Orlando was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, leaving 49 innocent persons dead and 53 more injured. We join with our fellow citizens and with caring people from around the world in standing in solidarity with the Orlando community and offering our thoughts and prayers for all of the victims and their families during this very difficult time.

This murderous rampage is another seeming example of a weak-minded individual being influenced by a hatred for others and Islamic extremism. But, it is also a stark reminder of the vital role that law enforcement officers play in our society. While our nation is in mourning for the victims and their families, we should also be extremely grateful that when evil strikes, our law enforcement professionals will respond and do whatever it takes to protect the innocent.
