Teens and tweens in grades 6-12 can beat the heat and learn the basics of computer coding at the Woodbridge Public Library this summer.
Beginning July 12, the Summer Coding Club will meet every Tuesday from 3-4 p.m. in the Main Library BEC Room to learn coding basics. Members will use Google CS First to learn coding skills related to video game design and then implement them using the free online program Scratch to create their own games. The program will run every week for six sessions (except for Aug. 2), with two optional sessions at the end for members who want to fine-tune their work or start a new project.
No coding experience is necessary. Headphones and supplies will be provided to each participant, and six desktop PCs will be available for members to use. Members also have the option to bring their own laptops.
