RED BANK — Many shops and restaurants in the Red Bank area were on hand for a pet-inspired street fair on June 28.

“Red Bank Dog Days” ran from 6-9 p.m. on Monmouth Street between Drummond and Broad Street.

The idea for this event was conceived four years ago when Mayor Pasquale Menna visited the Red Bank River Center for assistance, according to a prepared statement.

“Mr. Menna had asked us for help in putting something together for the dogs and their owners,” said James Scavone, executive director of the Red Bank River Center. “That is when the idea for this event was discussed and put together.”

Visitors enjoyed the warm weather and visited a number of restaurants and stores. A total of 10 local businesses were on hand to offer their services including accessories, grooming and pet-sitting. A selfie station was also available for everyone to enjoy.

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital sponsored the event. Home Free Animal Rescue, Doggie Bandanas by Karen, Fins & Feathers, Spoiled Paws Boutique, Double D’s Doggie Delights, Purr N’ Pooch, Hotel for Dogs, Chill Bubble Tea & Ice Cream, the Red Bank Visitors Center and the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals participated.
