The summer has settled in but you can settle in and watch various forms of sports across the area. Here are the events that you can soak in during these hot and sunny days.

Raceway Park in Englishtown will be taken over by thrill-seeking runners on July 9 and 10 when it holds the Rugged Maniac 5K. In this event, participants face 27 obstacles, including crawling through tunnels, racing through mud and over fire and climbing a 20-foot wall during their 3.1-mile run.

 

If you ever wondered what ever happened to former high school basketball stars, you can find the answer at the Jersey Shore Summer Basketball League, which holds its games Monday-Thursday evenings at Wall Township High School.

Many of the former scholastic stars who are now playing in college, compete in this highly competitive league that includes some ex-professionals and college graduates.

 

The Monroe Sports Center’s Summer High School Basketball League, for varsity boy and girl teams, concludes this weekend with games on July 7 and 10.

 

The Lincroft Little League is  the host to the Little League Senior Softball State Tournament July 13-16. As District 19 and Section 3 champion, Middletown is one of four teams vying for the state championship. Middletown opens play on July 13 against Dover/Wharton.

 

Howell Central Little League, Old Tavern Rd. Howell Township, is holding the Little League Senior League Baseball Section 3 championship on July 8. Freehold Township and Howell Central are among the team competing for the section title and a trip to the state championship.

 

Little League baseball teams in the Major League division are taking the first step towards Williamsport, Pa., and the Little League World Series.

On July 9 Freehold Township and Manalapan play at the Freehold Township LL Complex off Georgia Road for a spot in the District 19 final scheduled to be played on July 12 at the Middletown Little League Complex off the Navesink Road.
