BELMAR – The sand is warm, the sun is shining, and the water is crystal clear at the beach in Belmar. Dust off your shovel and pail, grab some sunscreen and venture to the 18th Avenue Beach on Wednesday, July 13, as Frank Sementa and D’Jais present the 30th Annual NJ Sandcastle Contest.
A perfect way for friends and family to spend the day enjoying the salty summer air with fun games, dancing, music and prizes. Presented by D’Jais and the Belmar Tourism Commission , the contest is free and open to all ages of sandcastle engineers. Participants will have the chance to win prize baskets among six different categories: ages 7 & under, ages 8-11, ages 12-15, 16 and over, best group, and best family. Team up in a group or compete as a solo artist as judges look for the top tower to award “Best On the Beach.” Join the fun with Frank Sementa’s dance party on the beach, starting at noon, stroll the boardwalk, browse local craft items and the newest Jeeps from World Jeep in Shrewsbury, and sample tasty treats from Wendy’s mobile unit.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. on the 18th Avenue Beach, with free admission to the beach for participation. Judging begins at noon. Rain date scheduled for July 14.
