Bear reportedly seen again in Milltown

MILLTOWN – Residents have reported a bear sighting again in Milltown.

The black bear was sighted in the area of Kuhlthau Avenue and Fresh Ponds Road on July 8. It was originally seen in the area of South Brook Drive during the evening of July 7 but then retreated back to the woods, according to a statement prepared by the Milltown Police Department.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Fish and Wildlife was contacted, police said.

A conservation officer advised that residents keep trash can lids on securely, do not feed the bear, do not attempt to take pictures. keep pets on a leash, keep a safe distance and notify police.
