LINCROFT — Newman Springs Dental Care presented a $500 health-care scholarship on June 8 to a local high school senior planning collegiate studies in medicine, nursing, dentistry, chiropractic, physical therapy or related areas.
The award recipient was Sarah Maggipinto, a graduating Middletown High School South senior who will be attending Boston University in the fall to study biomedical engineering.
The award was presented by Dr. Mitchel Friedman of Newman Springs Dental Care at the high school’s Student Awards Night.
“There were several excellent candidates who were worthy of the scholarship — Sarah just stood out from the applicants,” said Friedman, a 1976 graduate of the local public school system.
