Seining program at Sandy Hook Bay at two locations in August

The Monmouth County Park System will hold “Seining along Sandy Hook Bay” at two locations during August.

Seining will take place Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Aug. 1-26 at Bayshore Waterfront Park, Port Monmouth, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Aug. 2, 4, 23 and 25 at the Popamora Point section of the Henry Hudson Trail, Highlands.

The free, hands-on nature program will discover a variety of fish, crabs and other sea creatures as a seine net is pulled through the calm waters of Sandy Hook Bay. Closed-toe shoes are required. Meet on the beach near the park entrance. Parents or guardians are required to stay with and supervise their children. Swimming is not permitted during this weather-dependent event.
