Library slates children’s programs for August

The Middletown Township Public Library has scheduled children’s programs in August at 55 New Monmouth Road.

“Monmouth County SPCA Therapy Dog Awareness” will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 3. The presentation will focus on the need for kindness and compassion for all animals, the importance of properly caring for family pets and information on how Monmouth County SPCA’s certified pet therapy dogs bring joy and love at local hospitals and nursing homes, schools and libraries. Children can ask questions and pet the therapy dogs.

“Master Gardeners Workshop for Kids” will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 4. The workshop will include a pot-a-plant activity. Registration is required, and space is limited.

“Funny, Freckled Frogs: A Nature Storytime with Live Animals” for children age 3-5 with an adult will be presented at 10 a.m. Aug. 8. Learn all about amphibians during this science storytime featuring puppets, picture books and live animals.

“It’s a Great Big, Really Small World” will be at 3 p.m. Aug. 16. This adventure story will take the audience on a magical journey all over the world. Learn about each country visited and how books have the power to take readers anywhere they want to go.

An “On Your Mark, Get Set, READ” magic show for all ages will begin 7 p.m. Aug. 24. Magician extraordinaire Jim Vagias is back to entertain with a show that corresponds with the library’s summer reading program. No registration required.

“End of Summer Celebration!” will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 1. Our Kids Fun DJ will provide an interactive program designed to get children up and moving with the “Limbo,” “Macarena,” “Chicken Dance,” “Hokey Pokey” and “Electric Slide.” Games will include Hula Hoop Hot Potato, Freeze Dance and the Mummy Wrap.
