NBC will broadcast the 2016 Rio Olympics opening ceremony on Friday, Aug. 5. Various NBC Universal networks will air more than 2,000 hours of Olympics coverage Aug. 3 – 21. On most days, NBC Sports Network will televise 16 hours of coverage. Bob Costas will serve as primetime host for the 11th time, most of any broadcaster in U.S. television history. Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira and Savannah Guthrie will host the opening ceremonies.

PBS’ American Experience will premiere its new one-hour documentary The Boys of ’36 on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 9 p.m. (Check your local listings). This is the true story of the American Olympic rowing team that triumphed against all odds in Nazi Germany. These sons of loggers, shipyard workers and farmers overcame tremendous hardships — psychological, physical and economic —  to beat not only the Ivy League teams of the East coast, but Adolf Hitler’s elite German rowers to capture the gold medal.

MADtv returns with an all new primetime series on The CW Tuesday, July 26 at 9 p.m. The new cast features an eclectic mix of stand-up comedians, impressionists, sketch performers and rising stars in the comedy world. Cast members from the original late-night series will make some appearances, as well as some special guest stars. Prepare for pop-culture parodies and lots of politically incorrect humor.

ABC will premiere season three of Bachelor in Paradise on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m. The cast is comprised of former fan favorites and controversial characters from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette franchises. Over the course of six weeks, the group will explore new relationships, while living together in Mexico, in a secluded and dreamy paradise. The series will feature shocking twists, surprises and some unexpected guests.
