‘Art From Nature’ workshop set for July 30

The Middlesex County Office of Culture and Heritage will sponsor a free hands-on art workshop titled “Art From Nature” 10-11:30 a.m. July 30 at the Lodge in Thompson Park, Monroe.

The program, led by Lindsay Erben, art educator and executive director of the Central Jersey Arts Council, is designed to help people of all ages discover and adopt an eco-centric view of natural earth through art. Participants will create their own unique works of art from natural terracotta clay and materials found in nature including twigs, leaves, flowers, grass and pebbles. The textures of recyclable materials such as plastic bottles, lids, papers and cloth also will be used. Artists will take home their creations.

The program is offered free of charge; however, registration is required by 4 p.m. July 29 by calling 732-745-4489. To register online, email culturalandheritage@co.middlesex.nj.us. Individuals with hearing disabilities may dial 732-745-3888 (TTY users only) or 711, the New Jersey Relay System. An assistive-listening system will be in use during the event.

The workshop is funded in part by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Central Jersey Arts Council and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment of the Arts.
