TINTON FALLS — A local coffee company and one of the area’s newest breweries are collaborating on a coffee flavored beer.
Jughandle Brewing Company and Booskerdoo Coffee are teaming up to produce craft beer made with fresh roasted coffee.
Jughandle Brewing, which opened its doors to the public last month on Asbury Avenue in Tinton Falls, is partnering with Booskerdoo Coffee, a certified organic coffee roaster, which has five locations in Monmouth County. Booskerdoo is in the process of moving its roasting operation and bakery to Asbury Park.
“We are excited to partner with Jughandle Brewing,” said James Caverly of Booskerdoo Coffee. “They have an impressive operation and are very knowledgeable about making craft beer.”
Jughandle Brewing and Booskerdoo Coffee are currently collaborating with several coffee blends and expect to release a coffee porter in the next several months.
“Booskerdoo makes great coffee,” said Mike Skudera, of Jughandle Brewing. “They take pride in their work and we are thrilled to be collaborating with them.”
Jughandle Brewery is located a half-mile from Garden State Parkway exit 102 and just minutes from the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets in the Tinton Falls Centre Plaza located at 4057 Asbury Ave.
The brewery will be able to produce up to 4,000 barrels (31 gallons per barrel) of high-quality craft beer annually and opened to the public in June for tours and tastings. Visitors may also take home craft beer, which will rotate with the seasons. Their current beers on tap include an IPA, Saison, Hefeweizen, English Bitter, Stout, Kolsch, Pale Ale and a Berliner Weisse (sour) served with or without homemade raspberry syrup. It was founded by partners Chris Hanigan of Red Bank and Pete Artherholt and Skudera of Tinton Falls.
Booskerdoo Coffee was started five years ago by founders James and Amelia Caverly of Ocean Township with a single store in Monmouth Beach. They have expanded to a total of five locations: Fair Haven, Monmouth Beach, and this year in Asbury Park and Pier Village in Long Branch in addition to a prime spot at Bell Works, the former Bell Labs building in Holmdel, which is attracting several top technology companies.
Their main roasting operations and bakery are in the process of moving to Asbury Park this summer. With popular coffee blends including Jersey Diner and Black & Tan, they offer eat-in and take-out of drip, espresso, tea, cold drinks, and breakfast and fresh-baked items.
