As we congratulate our local Monmouth County track and field Olympians Ajee’ Wilson and Robby Andrews, let us not forget the minor miracle of Colts Neck High School.

Colts Neck Coach Jim Schlentz had two former distance runners make the Olympic trials finals. Ashley Higginson and Craig Forys both ran the steeplechase, arguably the toughest race in the sport. They are two of many whom Coach Schlentz has trained and taught at Colts Neck in his tenure.

There is a one-minute clip online of an interview with Ashley after the finals. In it, despite her disappointment, she is articulate and gracious. She certainly represents the Shore Conference and New Jersey well.
