Celebrating its 12th year, L.A. Dance Center Of The Arts in Lincroft is more than just a dance studio. It has gained its well-deserved reputation of being a professional dance education facility where the students are the No. 1 priority. Co-directors Debra Nicolosi, Angela Thompson and Tracey Armato believe in training the best dancers out there, bringing out the star and the best in every child. They strive to enhance the positivity and creative confidence of dancers in a fun environment. The staff instructors are a team of highly trained professionals who teach tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop and creative movement. For the most serious dancer, L.A. Dance has a competition team that has won numerous special awards for technique, entertainment and choreography. The team performs in the community at senior citizen homes and at special charities, their most recent event being in Red Bank for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. L.A. Dance’s students’ accomplishments include modeling for Danskin and costume catalogs, performing in music videos, and being chosen for professional dance teams along with college dance programs. In addition, one of L.A. Dance’s directors, Debra Nicolosi, won Teacher of the Year at On Stage America Nationals in Cape May in July. The August Summer programs are something you don’t want to miss! L.A. Dance is offering a Nick Jr. themed Dance Camp Aug. 15-29, 9:30 a.m. to12 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, for ages 2-5. Camps will include dance, vocal, acting and crafts with musical instruments and acro. This is a special time for new little dancers to try out the studio. For dancers ages 6 and up, they offer Intensive Workshops Aug. 22-31, Mondays and Wednesdays. These classes are at 4-6 p.m. ages 6-12, and 7:30-9:30 p.m. ages 13-up. They feature incredible master teachers and guest choreographers from around the world teaching styles like jazz funk, ballet, contemporary, and technique. They also offer open hip-hop classes from 6-7:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays Aug. 22-31. If you are interested in joining the L.A. Dance Company, auditions will be held during the August classes.
