FREEHOLD – At a press conference in Freehold Borough today, Aug. 4, Freehold Borough K-8 School District Superintendent of Schools Rocco Tomazic and state Sen. Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth) announced that the state will provide roughly 85 percent of the funding for an estimated $33 million school facilities construction project that was rejected by voters in two referendums.

Tomazic and Beck said the school district will be responsible for funding the remaining estimated 15 percent of the project costs, about $5 million.

School district administrators have said more space is needed to accommodate a growing K-8 enrollment and their position was upheld by an administrative law judge who recommended in December that construction work at the district’s schools should move forward.
