On Aug. 5, Martha Ploshay, who chairs the organization, said the event was rescheduled following the Aug. 1 passing of Doug Anthony, 51, an active member of the community and the husband of Borough Councilwoman Angela Anthony.

Doug Anthony was a sitting member of the Upper Freehold Regional School District Board of Education at the time of his passing. He had recently filed a nominating petition to run to retain his seat on the board in the Nov. 8 election.

The fundraiser for the Allentown Village Initiative will have a 1920s and 1930s theme that recalls the Jazz Age. It will be held at the Tudor Stone House, 143 S. Main St.

Attendees will be encouraged to dress in period clothing from the 1920s and 1930s, including “flapper” styles for women and suits for men. There will be live entertainment and films from the era will be shown.

The Allentown Village Initiative is an associate program of the Main Street New Jersey program which supports business operators and community leaders as they work to restore historic municipalities.

Funds raised by the organization have been used for several projects in Allentown, including the restoration of historic buildings and the restoration of the Colonial Episcopal Cemetery.

Tickets for the Sept. 10 event are $50 each. For more information, email Martha Ploshay at ploshay@juno.com
