Community members and business people are invited to tee off in support of local students at the 37th annual Education Open Golf Tournament to be held on Sept. 15 at the Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club, Howell.

The event, hosted by the Brookdale Community College Foundation, will feature golf on an 18-hole championship course, a cocktail reception and a gourmet awards dinner featuring celebrity guests, prize auctions and other offerings, according to a press release.

Golfers can compete for individual and team prizes, including a new car courtesy of Circle Infinity of West Long Branch. Blind skins games, a 50/50 cash raffle, and silent and live auctions will be offered as well. The full-scramble tournament will begin with a buffet brunch at 10 a.m., followed by an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start, according to the press release.

The tournament awards dinner will honor Peter Grandich, president and CEO of Peter Grandich & Company and author of the autobiography “Confessions of a Former Wall Street Whiz Kid.”

Grandich, of Freehold, will be recognized for his support of area athletes, business owners and nonprofit organizations, including the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and the Ashley Lauren Foundation.

Grandich will be joined at the event by former New York Jets lineman Joe Klecko, New York Rangers fan favorite Nick Fotiu, former New York Giants punter and Super Bowl champion Jeff Feagles and former New Jersey Devil and two-time Stanley Cup champion Grant Marshall.

The tournament will benefit the Brookdale Foundation’s “Building Minds, Building Futures” scholarship fund, which has provided more than $4.4 million in college scholarships to nearly 7,000 local students over the past 16 years, according to the press release.

The tournament is co-chaired by Domenick Servodio of TD Bank and Tina Munson of Lomurro, Munson, Comer, Brown and Schottland, Freehold.

“The Education Open is a first-class golf outing at a premier golf course, with proceeds supporting hundreds of deserving students who do not qualify for federal or state financial aid,” Munson said. “Come out, have some fun and invest in the success of students who will go on to be valuable members of our communities.”

A range of golf packages, dinner-only reservations and sponsorship opportunities are available. The rain date for the tournament is Sept. 20.
