Millstone Township residents will have a full slate of candidates from which to elect three members to three-year seats on the Millstone Township K-8 School District Board of Education in the Nov. 8 election.
The board oversees the operation of the Millstone Township Primary School, the Millstone Township Elementary School and the Millstone Township Middle School.
The terms of school board members Salvatore Casale, David DePinho, Kevin McGovern and Margaret Gordon are ending in December.
The candidates seeking three three-year terms are Casale, DePinho, McGovern, Natalie Biello, Paula Menar, Kristin Schloss and Amrita Singh.
Gordon is the only candidate seeking a one-year unexpired term.
Three three-year seats on the Upper Freehold Regional School District Board of Education will be up for grabs in the Nov. 8 election. The board oversees the operation of the Newell Elementary School, Stone Bridge Middle School and Allentown High School.
The terms of board members Patricia Hogan and Tia McLaughlin are ending in December. Hogan and McLaughlin filed nominating petitions to run for new three-year terms.
Hogan and McLaughlin are representatives of Upper Freehold Township and will be on the ballot in the township.
There will be a three-year term on the ballot for Allentown’s representative on the board. Douglas Anthony, who held that seat, filed a nominating petition to run to retain his position, but died on Aug. 1.
On Aug. 8, a Monmouth County election official said Allentown residents have until Sept. 6 to file a nominating petition to run for that seat.
If no one files a nominating petition, Allentown’s representative on the board could be decided by write-in votes on Nov. 8. If no one wins as a write-in candidate, district administrators will advertise the vacancy, conduct interviews and appoint an Allentown resident to the board.
The regional school board is comprised of eight residents of Upper Freehold Township and one resident of Allentown.
One member of the Millstone Township school board sits on the Upper Freehold Regional board and votes on issues that deal with Allentown High School because Millstone residents attend Allentown High School on a tuition basis.
School board members in New Jersey are not paid for their service to the community. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 8.
