Man charged with allegedly pointing rifle at houses

MONROE — Three local police departments joined together to apprehend a man who was allegedly pointing a rifle at residences in Monroe.

Around 10:35 a.m. July 30, the Monroe Township, Jamesburg and South Brunswick police departments were dispatched to Gloucester Way in Monroe for a report of a male sitting on a bench allegedly holding and pointing a rifle at surrounding trees and houses, according to information provided by the Monroe Police Department.

It was also reported that the male may have had a machete in his possession, according to reports.

Upon arrival by police, John Andrew Delorimier, 48, a resident of Gloucester Way, was reportedly found to be in possession of a long, black Airsoft rifle in a gun case, a machete in a holster, an object that resembled a hand grenade and orange noise-canceling ear muffs, according to the statement issued by police.

Delorimier was charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, possession of an imitation firearm for an unlawful purpose and disorderly conduct.

Bail was set at $15,000 with no 10 percent option.
