Jillian P. Mathews of Edison was named to the 2016 spring semester dean’s list at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana,  Pennsylvania. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in ecology, conservation and environmental biology and geology. She is a graduate of Edison High School, Edison, and the daughter of Glenn and Loretta Mathews.

Mathews has been selected to participate in a field study program in Newfoundland, Canada, for three weeks this summer. The IUP Geoscience Department describes this study as “a field course designed to utilize the exceptional and diverse geologic features of Newfoundland for instruction of departmental majors and minors in the tectonic analysis utilizing sedimentologic, stratigraphic and paleontologic observations.” Travel expenses for the students participating in this study are funded by the IUP Geoscience Department.
