MONROE – No charges have been filed yet in the case of a 2-year-old child wandering from a daycare facility in Monroe on Aug. 10.
At around 10 a.m., the developmentally disabled female child wandered away from a state-licensed daycare facility located on Prospect Plains Road, according to a statement prepared by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Michael E. Lloyd of the Monroe Township Police Department.
A good Samaritan saw the child walking by herself on the shoulder of Applegarth Road, police said. The person safely removed the child from the roadway and contacted the Monroe Police Department.
It was determined that the child was under the supervision of the daycare when this occurred. The daycare facility did not notify police that the child was missing, according to the statement.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s office is conducting the investigation in conjunction with the Monroe Police Department and the Institutional Abuse Investigation Unit of the New Jersey Department of Children & Families. No charges have been filed as of yet.
