The Metuchen Recreation Commission will conduct its annual Fishing Derby at Thomas Pond (Tommy’s Pond), Lake Avenue, Metuchen, starting at 9 a.m. on Aug. 20. The fee for participation is $1 per child and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Trophies will be awarded in several categories. Participants must bring their fishing poles and bait. Pre-registration is not required.
