Dave Burlew (right) and his fiancé Tara Keegan (left) harvest a line of purple pok choy at the Community Supported Agriculture Farm in Roosevelt on Thursday, May 29. The Roosevelt CSA Farm is six acres that grows various vegetables and fruits with more than 100 shareholders. "There's nothing spread on our crops and it goes from the field to the plate," said David Burlew.

The Monmouth County Park System will hold its Harvest Home Festival from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 25 at Historic Longstreet Farm, Holmdel.

Reminiscent of an old-fashioned fair from the 1890s, this event features wagon rides, games and live entertainment. There will also be ongoing Victorian-era craft demonstrations. Visitors are invited to join in the spirit of the festival by entering one of the many competitions. Categories include vegetables, canning, condiments, baked goods, embroidery, quilting, rug hooking and more. Applications for the competition are available at www.monmouthcountyparks.com or by calling 732-946-3758.
