Parents, professionals, students, individuals with learning disabilities and/or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and community members interested in knowing more about learning disabilities and attention issues can register for the annual Learning Disabilities Association of New Jersey (LDANJ) Conference – Navigate the Maze, which will be held Oct. 23 at Rutgers University’s Livingston Campus Student Center, 84 Joyce Kilmer Ave., Piscataway.
“Busting the Myths and Stigmas around Learning and Attention Issues: A Way Forward” will be presented by Amanda Morin, an expert and writer for the website Understood.org.
The lunch topic will be “Improving Achievement for All Students” by the New Jersey Department of Education.
There are 21 sessions to choose from, which include topics such as testing for learning disabilities, ADHD, a dyslexia simulation, accommodations for students, success with technology, resilience, transition to college and work, mindfulness, drum therapy, differentiating instruction, IEPs and more.
In addition, time will be provided to visit more than 40 exhibitors at the Vendor, School & Post-Secondary Resource Expo.
Professional Development Certificates available. Some sessions may meet the two-hour dyslexia training requirement for professionals.
Early bird registration of $25 for students and members, $50 for non-members and $75 for membership with registration will be held through Sept. 10. Prices increase to $50, $75 and $100, respectively, after Sept. 10.
