Police arrest suspect in armed robbery at WaWa in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN — Cole Murch, 21, has been arrested by police after allegedly committing an armed robbery on Aug. 23 at a WaWa on Route 36.

According to Detective Lieutenant Paul Bailey of the Middletown Township Police Department, Murch robbed a gas station attendant at the convenience store at knifepoint before running off with an undisclosed amount of money, but he was quickly apprehended by police. No officers or citizens were harmed.

Murch, who is in custody at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, has been charged with first degree robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, certain persons not to have weapons and resisting arrest.
