Nearly 1,000 motorcycles passed through downtown Hightstown Aug. 20 as part of the America’s 9/11 Ride. The event is about remembering the heroes, volunteers and victims who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and since. The event takes riders up and down the East Coast from the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA, to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. to the final destination to pay tribute at Ground Zero in New York City. The riders passed through Hightstown on their way to New York. This year’s event, the 15th, marked the final ride. It will be discontinued because of the challenging logistics of putting together the three-day event.
