CBS has set the Hawaii Five-0 season premiere timing for Friday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. This popular contemporary take on the classic TV series revolves around an elite federalized task force whose mission is to wipe out the crime that washes up on the island’s shores. Starring Alex O’Loughlin as Detective Steve McGarrett, the current cast excels to the same level as the original series cast, with lots of entertaining interactions.

Smithsonian Channel will commemorate the 50th anniversary of a landmark sci-fi television series with the premiere of Building Star Trek on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. The 2-hour special will take an in-depth look at the far reaching influences that the original Star Trek series has had on science and technology, like warp drives, medical tricorders, cloaking devices and tractor beams. A team will also work on restoring the original 11-foot, 250 pound model of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Oprah Winfrey Network will premiere season two of Queen Sugar commercial-free over two nights on Sept. 6 and 7 at 10 p.m. This contemporary drama chronicles the lives and loves of the estranged Bordelon siblings. After a family tragedy, the Bordelons must navigate the triumphs and struggles of their complicated lives in order to run an ailing sugarcane farm in the deep south. The series stars Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Kofi Siriboe and Rutina Wesley.

Season two of Documentary Now! is set to premiere on IFC Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. Nominated for a 2016 Emmy for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, Fred Armisen and Bill Hader will be joined by Hollywood notables Anne Hathaway, Mia Farrow, Peter Bogdanovich and Peter Fonda in a 2-part episode paying homage to Robert Evans’ documentary, The Kid Stays in the Picture.
