POLICE BLOTTER for the week of 9/2/16

The East Windsor Township Police Department initiated the following police reports through Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016. 
Franklin Smith, 64, of Trenton, was charged with DUI, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to wear seatbelt, failure to maintain lane, failure to keep right, obstructing passage of motor vehicle, driving while suspended, being an unlicensed driver, having an open container of alcohol in motor vehicle and consuming alcohol in motor vehicle after an accident at 4:05 p.m. Aug. 19 on Route 571.
Officers responded to Route 571 (Princeton-Hightstown Road) between Route 535 (Old Trenton Road) and Route 133 for a motor vehicle accident. Three vehicles were involved in the accident. A preliminary investigation revealed that motor vehicle No. 1, driven by Mr. Smith, was traveling west on Route 571 when it crossed over the center double yellow line, sideswiped motor vehicle No. 2 and struck motor vehicle No. 3 head-on.
Motor vehicle No. 2 and Motor Vehicle No. 3 were both traveling eastbound on Route 571 at the time of the accident. Mr. Smith was transported to University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro for a leg injury. The Driver of motor vehicle No. 2 and the front-seat passenger were not injured. The driver of motor vehicle No. 3 complained of back pain but was not transported to the hospital.
Mr. Smith was determined to be at fault and further investigation revealed that he was impaired at the time of the accident. 
Joel F. Valdiviezo-Astudi, 22, of East Windsor was charged with DUI, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain a lane and obstructing traffic after being stopped at 2:15 a.m. Aug. 20 on Route 130.
An officer observed a vehicle operating recklessly on Route 130 and conducted a motor vehicle stop near Route 33. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Mr. Valdiviezo-Astudi was given field sobriety tests and arrested for DUI. He was later released pending court action. 
Geneva Rambajan, 23, of Perth Amboy, N.J., was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintenance of lamps, failure to exhibit registration, improper safety glass and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle after being stopped at 8:23 p.m. Aug. 24 on Dorchester Drive.
An officer observed a motor vehicle with an inoperable headlight and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Dorchester Drive. While speaking with the driver the officer detected the odor of marijuana from within the vehicle. The investigation revealed the driver was in possession of marijuana. Ms. Rambajan was arrested and later released pending court action. 
The Hightstown Borough Police Department initiated the following police reports from Aug. 24 through Aug. 29, 2016. 
Kevin J. Pascal, 51, of the 100 Block of Oak Lane, was arrested Aug. 24 for an active warrant out of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Officer, during the course of a motor vehicle stop on Bank Street. Mr. Pascal was transported to headquarters, processed, and later released to the custody of the Mercer County Sheriff’s. 
Joseph Morno, 27, of Monroe Township, was arrested Aug. 25 in Middlesex County for an active warrant out of Hightstown Municipal Court. Mr. Morno was picked up from the Middlesex County Jail and transported to the Hightstown Municipal Court in Robbinsville where he went before a judge. Mr. Morno was sentenced to 20 days in jail and subsequently transported to the Mercer County Adult Correctional Facility. 
Claude O. Inge, 42, of Trenton, was arrested Aug. 27 for active warrants out of the Burlington County Sheriff’s Office, and Mount Holly Municipal Court, during the course of a motor vehicle stop on Broad Street. Mr. Inge was transported to headquarters, processed, and later transported to the Mercer County Adult Correctional Facility. 
Jesus R. Ortiz, 74, of the 200 Block of Mercer Street, was arrested Aug. 27 for DWI, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, during the course of a motor vehicle stop on North Main Street. Mr. Ortiz was transported to headquarters, processed, and later released to a friend. 
Mallory A. Yohannan, 25, of Upper Saddle River, was arrested Aug. 27 for DWI during the course of a motor vehicle stop on Mercer Street. Ms. Yohannan was transported to headquarters, processed, and later released to a friend. 
Phillip M. Roger, 30, of East Windsor, was arrested Aug. 28 for an active warrant out of the Seaside Park Municipal Court, and for possessing a controlled dangerous substance, and drug paraphernalia, during the course of a motor vehicle stop on Mercer Street. Mr. Roger was transported to headquarters, processed, and later released on his own recognizance. 
Kenneth Howard, 54, of Palmyra, was arrested Aug. 29 for an active warrant out of the Camden County Court, during the course of a motor vehicle stop on Franklin Street. Mr. Howard was transported to the station, processed, and later released on his own recognizance.
