Joining the force in 1911, Battle served for four decades, confronted racism both within and outside the department and befriended everyone from Joe Louis to Eleanor Roosevelt.

Browne, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, will join the discussion on history, legacy and race relations in a changing America.
