HOWELL – The 44th annual Howell Day celebration will be held from 1-8 p.m. Sept. 24 at Soldier Memorial Park, Lakewood-Farmingdale Road (Route 547).

“Howell Day is expected to be a full day of family friendly events showcasing all of the great things Howell has to offer, with something planned for everyone to enjoy,” Mayor Bill Gotto said. “We encourage all residents to enjoy the music, food, activities and fireworks as we celebrate how lucky we are to be a part of such a great community.”

Steven Fecher, Howell’s director of community relations, said there will be live entertainment throughout the day. Chris Daniels & The Proof will perform from  1:15-3 p.m.; the Phil Engel Band will perform from 3:30-5:15 p.m.; and Screaming Broccolli will perform from 5:45-7:15 p.m. A fireworks display is scheduled for 8 p.m.

There will be a children’s activity called Touch-A-Truck in which youngsters will have to opportunity to explore vehicles that are used by the Department of Public Works. Other activities will include face painting, a video game truck, inflatables and rides.

Fecher said representatives of municipal departments, houses of worship, children’s education services, insurance companies, the health and fitness industry and sports leagues will be on hand to speak with residents. Howell Day will also feature food vendors.

“I always like the music and of course the fireworks. Soldier Memorial Park is a great setting for the event, wide open, some parking available, easy to organize,” Gotto said. “Steven Fecher does a great job putting this event together.”

During Howell Day, parking will be available at Howell High School, Squankum-Yellowbrook Road, and at Howell Middle School South, Ramtown-Greenville Road. Shuttle buses will operate between those two schools and Soldier Memorial Park during the event.
