Concert series returns to Downtown Freehold on Sept. 24

The Downtown Concert Series will open another season at St. Peter’s Church, Throckmorton Street, Freehold, on Sept. 24 with a performance by piano virtuoso Vyacheslav Gryaznov.

Gryaznov is one is one of the most accomplished and sought-after musicians among the new generation of Russian pianists, according to a press release. He is an artist of the Moscow Philharmonic Society and is known as the composer of numerous concert transcriptions which have become popular all over the world.

The concert series continues on Nov. 19 with the inventive guitar ensemble Mobius Trio, which has made a name as one of the Bay Area’s best and hottest young ensembles, according to the press release. Mobius Trio’s mission is to use the guitar to create a new lexicon of music.

On Feb. 18, the American Boychoir will perform. Boys in the fourth through eighth grades, reflecting the ethnic, religious and cultural diversity of the United States, come from across the country and around the world to pursue a rigorous musical and academic curriculum at the American Boychoir School in Princeton, according to the press release.

The Akropolis Reed Quintet will close the season on May 13. The quintet takes listeners on musical adventures, performing an innovative repertoire with acclaimed precision. The quintet’s dynamic concerts feature accessible contemporary works framed by invigorating arrangements of classical music spanning four centuries, according to the press release.
