In connection with the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, Aberdeen Township will dedicate a new memorial, which will include a 147-pound piece of steel from the World Trade Center, in memory of the victims of the terrorist attacks, including five Aberdeen residents.
The dedication will be held this Sunday, Sept. 11, at 3 p.m. at Aberdeen Town Hall, which is located on Church Street, just off of Atlantic Avenue. Members of the community are invited to attend.
The ceremony will feature remarks by local clergy, Congressman Frank Pallone (D-Monmouth, Middlesex) and Aberdeen Township Mayor Fred Tagliarini.
Constructed at no expense to taxpayers by Aberdeen-based Quality First Companies, the memorial will list the names of Aberdeen residents Stephen J. Fiorelli, Richard Rodriguez, Michael Uliano, Christopher M. Traina and Lance Tumulty, who were among the 2,977 people who perished during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
