Brookdale Computer Users Group meeting slated

Brookdale Computer Users Group (BCUG) will sponsor “How Technology Helps Seniors Stay Safe” at 7 p.m. on Sept. 16 at Building MAS, Room 100, Brookdale Community College, 765 Newman Springs Rd., Lincroft. The event is free.

Technology now can help seniors safely remain in their homes instead of moving to supervised group settings. In this fast-paced, nontechnical program, wearable technology expert Alfred Poor, Ph.D., provides a practical overview of aging-in-place devices, remote medicine and other affordable systems that make it practical for seniors to remain in their own homes, maintain an independent life and save money. At the same time, these systems provide safety and peace of mind for all involved.

Poor is a dynamic speaker with an international reputation in technology fields. He is the editor of Health Tech Insider, a website and newsletter that covers the health and medical applications of wearable technology.
