Democratic candidates worthy of support

Typing Letter to the Editor for the Opinion page.

President John F. Kennedy said we need leaders who “can guide us through [the] darkness to a safe and sure future” (acceptance speech, July 15, 1960).

We in Monmouth County are fortunate to have such leaders running for public office this year.

Jeff Cantor, a candidate for sheriff, is a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and his running mates, Sue Fulton for freeholder and Vincent Solomeno for surrogate, are captains in the U.S. Army Reserves.

These candidates know the importance of keeping our homes, schools, places of worship and shopping malls safe. They have dedicated their lives to helping to keep Americans safe.

They are joined by Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty for freeholder. Mayor Doherty has been a champion for environmental justice on the Jersey Shore.

The Monmouth County Democratic ticket is headed by Congressman Frank Pallone Jr., a leader in the fight for environmental, labor and women’s rights; and at the very top is Hillary Clinton, called by President Barack Obama the most qualified person ever to seek the presidency.
